Chaga Preparation According to Cree Healer Sherri Anderson
In his book The Fungal Pharmacy - a must-read if you're in any way interested in the healing powers of mushrooms - author Robert Rogers introduces Cree Healer Sherri Anderson from the Flying Dust First Nation who shares the following recipe for preparing a chaga extract.
"To make chaga medicine, remove the inner orange-brown layers, either cutting them into strips or shredding and crumbling them. Use one tablespoon for every three litres of boiling water and let soak for four hours.
Pour off this liquid and save the wet powder. Pour a cup of water that has been boiled and then cooled to fifty degrees Celsius over the fungus and leave at room temperature for two days.
Drink up to three cups daily, thirty minutes before meals. "
